How far in advance should I book a private boat tour on Lake Como?
We recommend booking at least 2 to 4 weeks in advance, especially during the peak summer season (May through September). US travelers visiting in July and August should reserve early to guarantee preferred dates and peak sunset departure times.
Where do the boat tours pick up and drop off?
Primary pickup locations include main docks in Como town, Cernobbio, Moltrasio, Laglio, and Bellagio. We can also arrange direct pickup from private hotel docks (such as Villa d'Este, Grand Hotel Tremezzo, or Mandarin Oriental) upon request.
What happens if there is bad weather on the day of my tour?
Your safety and comfort come first. If severe weather or heavy rain prevents safe navigation, we will attempt to reschedule your tour to another mutually convenient time. If rescheduling is not possible, you will receive a full refund.
What is included in a private boat tour with Colombo Massimo?
Every private excursion includes an experienced, English-speaking local captain, fuel costs, passenger insurance, fresh bottled water, towels for swimming, and a Bluetooth sound system. Direct online bookings also receive a complimentary bottle of chilled Italian Prosecco.
Can we stop to swim or disembark during the tour?
Yes. On tours lasting 2 hours or longer, you can request stops in calm bays to swim. On 4-hour and full-day charters, you can also disembark to explore towns like Bellagio or have lunch at a waterfront restaurant.
How many guests can fit on the boat, and can we customize our tour itinerary?
Our private motorboats (Crissi) comfortably accommodates up to 10 guests maximum for an exclusive, uncrowded experience. Because every charter is 100% private, your itinerary is fully customizable. You can adjust the route, spend extra time taking photos at specific villas, stop for a swim, or pause for a drink at a waterfront bar—just let Captain Massimo know your preferences!
